The 20th annual Wudi ride is going to take place at the Brock Creek (BC), Arkansas public riding trails NE of Russellville, AR. We have had Wudi's here in the past, but it's been a few years. See the links on this page for directions and GPS coordinates. The festivities will center around the weekend of the March 2-3, 2019. Normally, the riding starts on Friday and goes through Sunday. This is a public riding area, though, so folks can start and end whenever they like this year.

I did pull a permit from the USFS for this ride. That allows us to have a larger group like this using the trails. They are allowing us to use the main campground this year, instead of the deer camp we had to use for our previous Wudi rides at BC. That's a nice thing as the camp has a vault toilet, picnic tables and some fire rings. But it is not a huge camp. Larger RV's will not fit in there, so truck/trailers are suggested. And please try to conserve space in camp for others to use.

We also have an area for larger RV's. It is across the dam over Brock Creek Lake. It's just a good sized flat area over there. Drawback to that is you'd be about 1/2 mile from the main camp. You can see both camp areas on the map I linked in above. Make sure you walk the area a little before pulling into it.

See the "Permited Brock Creek Map" link above to see where both campgrounds are. Take note that not all of the routes highlighted in yellow are single track. Some of those are ATV trails. The "Official USFS" trail map link shows just the single track.

There will be no charge for this event. But I would encourage you to chip in a few dollars, which I will donate to the local USFS office. They can use donated funds like that for local projects much easier than earmarked federal funds. There are no tags or permits needed to ride on USFS land in Arkansas.

BC has about 35-40 miles of single track trails and it's almost entirely fairly challenging. Big gnarly hills, lots of rocks, lots of off cambers, etc. Even the ATV trails you'll see on the maps are not really beginner friendly in a lot of the riding area. I'd say this is a B rider or better kind of place if you're going to have any fun. Not very kid, wife, beginner friendly. I love the place to death, and it's extremely scenic, but it's not for everyone.

On the other Wudi trips over the years to these areas, temps have been mostly from near freezing at night to 50/60+ during the day. But you never know. Altitude will be up to 2500' so no rejetting should be required. I've ridden the BC trails a lot and they're a lot of fun but sometimes challenging riding.

We will only have the trail maps to use for trail navigation unless you hook up with someone that knows their way around. The maps are good, and it's not hard to find your way around. The USFS will not let us arrow, but the trails are marked. They are adamant about no races at BC or anything that looks like a race, but will allow this ride if we pull a permit and keep things under control in the camp area. We will have arrows on the road close to camp to show the way into camp.

I would expect to hear generators running at night in camp, especially if it's cold. But if you plan to do that, please make sure it's one of the super quiet generators, like the Honda EU's and Yamaha EF's. Loud generators will likely not be tolerated. Thanks.

You should run very heavy tubes in both tires. Bibs work well also. I've run IRC trials tires in the back and Bridgestone M59 fronts there with great results. The newer Shinko 505 "cheater" is a good choice in the back, too. There are a lot of sharp rocks here so you could tear up whatever kind of tire you bring.

These annual WUDI rides happen each year to let to get some organized winter riding in. WUDI stands for WUDsracer Invitational. "Wudsracer" is Jim's user name on the rec.motorcycles.dirt usenet group, which is where I first got to know him. I moved to NW Arkansas in 2005 from MN, so have transitioned from strictly an atendee to putting the rides together. It's only open to all ya'lls who can come so it's not much of an invitational, actually.

These events started when Jim Cook extended an invitation to my Yankee self and friends to come down south and ride. He's since come to regret the offer but he's too much of a gentleman to turn the northeners down when they come begging each winter. It's grown from there into whatever it is now. This is NOT a full blown spodefest.

There is a little gas station/store in Jerusalem, if you need it. Jim says the closest place to BC is Hector, about 13 miles from camp. Keep in mind that Arkansas police love their radar guns and like giving out speeding tickets (I call them 'revenurs). 5-7 over is okay but you're on borrowed time much above that on non-highways.

Jim Cook, for those of you who didn't know, owned Smackover Motorsports in scenic Smackover, Ark where he sold GasGas dirtbikes and parts to many very happy customers.
